The Permanent Touch

Electrolysis reigned absolute until the 1990s

Although laser technology is the latest technology, electrolysis still has a very important place in permanent hair removal.

Electrolysis (sometimes called thermolysis) destroys the hair by the same process as laser does.  This process is heat. The big difference is, the heat is generated through a probe which is manually inserted into each hair follicle.  Usually the skin is more irritated by this procedure and may become swollen for a short time. Since the arrival of  laser application for electrolysis is usually limited to the following:

  1. The hair is white or blonde
  2. the hair is very fine
  3. The hair is growing in a hard to get at place, like in the nose or ears
  4. Eyebrow shaping
  5. The skin is too dark for laser
  6. There are only a few hairs. When there are only a few, as in you can count them, it would be cheaper to do electrolysis.   If there are a lot, then it’s cheaper to do laser
