The Consultation

Get Informed

If you want to learn more about electrolysis, take advantage of our courtesy consultation.  You’ll receive a personalized assessment and a demonstration of the treatment.

How to prepare

Your electrologist needs to see the type and extent of your hair growth. This means, stop removal by the root at least 2 weeks prior and groom by clipping or shaving.  Allow a growth of a minimum of 1 mm for  your appointment.

What to expect

You will be asked about your history of hair growth and the relevant facts.  Also past hair removal methods (shaving, waxing, tweezing), and when and how you last removed any hair. This helps in evaluating the extent of your hair growth and offering accurate estimates for your treatment plan.

The demo

The consult is an opportunity to get familiar with the sensation of electrolysis, especially If you have some reservations. If you are not offered one, make sure and request it.

What should a treatment feel like?

  • You should not feel the needle piercing the skin. If the insertion is done correctly, it will pass smoothly down the hair pore.
  • A properly treated hair will disengage easily from the follicle without the feeling of being tweezed.
  • You may feel heat or a pinch during the treatment, depending on the hair’s difficulty and the sensitivity of the area.
  • Stronger current = better results, but it should still be tolerable.

Know your investment

While it’s impossible to predict exact costs, an experienced electrologist should be able to give you a rough estimate based on good records. Ask for this upfront.

Common myths about hair removal

Contrary to what you might hear, being a “tough case” because of tweezing or “distorted” roots is rare. Even coarser hair can form without tweezing, and not all plucked hairs become thick.

Still unsure?

If you’re not convinced, ask for referrals from clients who have had similar work done and contact them to hear about their experiences.
