How to Prepare

Presence and Visibility of Hair

A common mistake is removing the hair by the root or shaving before the consultation. Your technician needs to see the type and extent of your hair growth. This means stopping any hair removal by the root for a minimum of 3 weeks prior. You may groom by clipping or shaving. It's important to allow a minimum growth of 1 mm for your appointment.

Past Removal

You will be asked about your history of hair growth, including past hair removal methods (shaving, waxing, tweezing), and when and how you last removed any hair. This helps evaluate the extent of your hair growth and allows for accurate treatment planning. We will advise whether electrolysis or laser is recommended and explain why, based on our experience. Results from any previous permanent treatments can also be discussed.

The Demo

The consultation is an opportunity to become familiar with the sensations, especially if you have any reservations. If you are not offered a demonstration, feel free to request one.

Prepping for Laser Treatment

Pre-shaving of the area to be treated is required and should be completed within 24 hours of treatment. Laser is recommended only for dark hair. If you are unsure whether your hair is suitable, please come in for a free consultation. Laser may be performed on darker skin, but recent sun exposure that causes tanning or redness can increase sensitivity. Certain medications such as antibiotics, retinols, or Accutane may also make your skin more sensitive. If you are pregnant, consult your doctor, as laser may or may not be recommended.
